The LoveSac Story
In 1995 an 18-year-old in Utah decided to make himself an oversized beanbag. He cut out the material in his parents' basement, sewed it together on his mother's sewing machine, and stuffed it himself. It took him three weeks to stuff, and when complete, it measured seven feet across. Shawn David Nelson took his "LoveSac" everywhere, from parties to drive-in movies. Word spread around his small town about "the kid with the big sack" and before long people all around him wanted their own.
Eventually, Shawn and a few friends began making and stuffing the 'Sacs with shredded foam that was leftover from a local sofa factory, and LoveSac began to catch on.
Through a series of trials and happy coincidences, Shawn's company endured until they opened their first retail store in Salt Lake City on November 17th, 2001. Since that time, they've opened dozens of other stores around the country, and continued to develop Sacs, SacCessories and even LoveSac apparel. The brand has grown on the merits of its products, delivering the ultimate in practical and unique furniture. LoveSacs are especially favored by enthusiastic fans for their media rooms.
